Below are the art
requirements for the majority of our
manufacturing plants. Don't have camera ready art? No
problem! Our artists can take care of everything for you for
usually $15 (simple typesetting), $25 (simple clean up) or $50
(basic redraw or more involved clean up).
The printing,
marketing, PR, or communications person/office on your campus will
be familiar with the programs and terms below and likely already
have art in this form or can adapt it for you. Off campus
printers of your business cards, stationery, or brochures are also a
good source. |
| Formats: |
MAC or PC
|
|
Software/Programs: |
Adobe Illustrator
(preferred)
Is your high resolution art only available in another popular graphics program such as
Photoshop, CorelDraw, or Quark? Ask us whether one of these additional programs
can be used by the manufacturer of this product. We
cannot use, open or accept art created in any page layout,
presentation or word processing programs such as MS Word, Pagemaker
or Power Point.
|
File Types:
|
.eps,
.ai, or (high resolution) .pdf (preferred)- saved as
vector art (this makes it possible to adjust the size of the
art in your file up or down to fit
the imprint area without any loss of quality).
If scanned images are used with artwork, they must also be
sent. Please send them as a separate .tiff file at 600
dpi. Files may be
compressed with Stuffit or WinZip. We
cannot use files with embedded images.
|
| Fonts: |
Convert all type to
curves, paths or outlines (this changes the format of your text so
that the integrity and shape are protected during electronic
transfer).
Include all placed files
along with the screen and printer fonts used in the document.
|
| Resolution/Size: |
600
dpi - actual size or
larger.
300 dpi may be acceptable for some items. 1200 dpi may be
required for a few items where fine detail printing is possible. All scanned images must be initially scanned at this
resolution. Lower resolution art "saved as" the
higher resolution will not reproduce at high quality.
|
|
Colors: |
Image
should be black and white, color separated with no trapping, for
imprints of 1-3 colors.
Image should be CMYK for 4 color process imprints.
For multi-color imprints, a color composite (an picture/image
showing the layout and colors together as they will appear on the
item) should also be included for reference.
|
|
Halftones: |
Art
supplied with halftones should be "to-size" at 72 lines
per inch. Tint percentages between 25% and 65% are
recommended. It is not possible to print halftone images on some products.
|
| Bleeds: |
If art has
bleeds, copy must be at least 1/8" inside cut lines and extend
past the cut lines by 1/8".
